Yoga Is A Good Way To Maintain A Healthy Body
Feb/100
You never know where yoga and meditation will be helpful. Never think of yoga and meditation as something you are alone, away from the others. The lessons that you learn from yoga and meditation are useful to every second of ever day, so it does not exclude them from your life.
Recently, my 18-year-old daughter, Lisa, started college. After saying buy, we have a long three o’clock to go home. Average speed of vehicles on the speed was about 80 miles per hour you think that was fast enough for most people. There were a big amount of drivers who wanted to go much quick than this.
The problem for those impatient drivers that the speed was only 2 lanes and it was very crowded. Many other parents are also making their way back from college. So there was plenty of room for passing, and even when these drivers still managed to find some space for passage, they really did not get very far. But still they continued to try to pass all the other vehicles constantly good position.
I have observed this behavior with amusement. It was foolishly. I could easily see eager drivers in my rearview mirror, and zigging and zagging in and out of traffic. What they are trying to achieve? What was their hurry? Of course, what they are doing is very dangerous, and does not seem to serve many purposes. Same car that had been zigging and zagging behind me eventually reduce front of me, and then got stuck behind another car. The progress is virtually non-existent. But as long as they continued their desire to move forward, despite all the obvious dangers.
Watching all this, I began to pay attention and observe their behavior. And do not know how impatient driver came back, I noticed that I flew up to prevent them by me. I did get some satisfaction from an evil to do so. According to my observations to myself, I concluded that I was basically imitating their irresponsible actions, so I stopped.
Then, as a driver after the driver cut me off, do not try to impede their progress I began to feel a tinge of superiority. So, I am now in control, and a sense of excellence, understanding the futility and danger of their actions and rejection to take part in it. Then, upon further observation, I realized that now judge their reckless behavior, comparing himself with them and determining that I am some how better than they were. Obviously, this attitude of superiority may serve no purpose, and I quickly stopped doing so.
The fact is that, watching yourself through an analysis, you will learn the way your mind actually works and the way you think. Yoga and meditation teach you that the imitation, judgments, comparisons, matching, only the distance and separate you from each other. Only by creating a conflict, stress and anxiety and unhappiness in your life. This selfish behavior leads to miss seeing the world, and poor action.

A Workout for Geeks
Dec/090

It’s the holiday season, which means those New Years resolutions are coming up fast. For those of you who are considering exercising more this upcoming year, here is a workout specially designed for the geek in you.
The Problem with Traditional Workouts
The number one problem with most workout plans for the life hacker is that they are boring. You go to the gym, lift some weights, run on the treadmill, and go home. Maybe next time you’ll run a little faster or lift a little more weight, but you’re pretty much going to do the same thing over and over. What’s the fun in that?
As a life hacker, you are creative and adventurous in everything you do, including your exercise. You should be constantly challenged both physically and mentally. Traditional workouts push you physically, while your mind remains idle. No wonder you reject them.
How to Hack Your Workout
Remember that hackers discover unconventional methods to push the boundaries of both themselves and their environment. A great tool that I’ve been using in my workouts is the aerobics step platforms. It’s like playing with giant sized legos, where I can build my own workout scenarios to explore.
Here are a couple methods that I already use:
- Hopping the Hurdles: This one is based off a gymnastics exercise I saw and is the one pictured above. I place a series of platforms at different lengths and heights and consecutively jump over them. It’s pretty fun because after the first jump, your feet act as springs, so it’s almost like being on a pogo stick. I kind of feel like Mario as I go through my level.
- The Parkour Track: The second method I use is laying out the long platforms on the floor in an oval shape and usually have one or two high obstacles that I need to either jump or climb over. I run atop the platforms, which means I need to be conscious of where I put my feet, when I speed up to jump, and even the speed taking corners (I’ve fallen over a few times as the platform slid out from going too fast).
The benefit of using these aerobics platforms is that it easily enables you to dynamically adjust the difficulty of the workout, according to your own beliefs about your abilities. It also provides great variability between workouts, so that your body is physically challenged, your cognitive awareness of your environment is enhanced, your creativity is expressed, and you get to have fun while everyone else is bored. ;)
Remember, these are only a couple methods of the vast possibilities. Unleash your creative side and see how else you can use them to be challenged.
I experiment, explore, create, and just try to figure out new ways to enjoy my life. You can read about my thoughts and adventures on my blog: WhiteHatBlackBox
Apple IPhone 3Gs Review Giveaway
Nov/090
From the very first model, the Apple iPhone has represented the peak of mobile communications technology. Yes, other mobiles have superior cameras, more integrated business software, etc., but no tool has come close to achieving the sheer amount of acclaim attributed to the iPhone. The chances are you would have already heard some channel of media or advertising related to the iPhone, such is its wide-ranging influence over today’s market. The product’s success, however, is not merely down to Apple’s trademark slick advertising or squeaky-clean image, but more to the stunning combination of speed, usability and variety that each touchscreen model exudes.
Apple’s Multi-Touch system is one that combines the wow factor that generally accompanies a touchscreen with stunning usability; objects and buttons on the screen respond in amazingly quick fashion and the quirky feature of pages “bouncing” off the device’s “walls” is one that surely will resonate with the young people, or simply those young at heart. The touchscreen is head and shoulders above any device on the market in terms of response times and accuracy, but this outstanding efficiency is augmented by another essential feature; the accelerometer.
The sheer responsiveness of the iPhone’s accelerometer allows for users to connect in applications which require precise readings of movement; games like Cube Runner or the Cover Flow feature of the iPod section rarely read movement wrongly, unlike other, less intuitive devices.
Another major selling point of the iPhone is the growing number of downloadable applications available from the iTunes App Store; with most being priced attractively and some being free, there is very little basis not to increase the iPhone’s capacity for fun/productivity at the expense of a few dollars. Whilst some applications do incur a cost, the amount of free stuff offered will keep you endlessly busy. Hours of monotony on tedious train trips can be a thing of the past with games such as Flight Control, SGN Golf and Paper Toss; so too irritating waits for a computer to fire off a quick business e-mail or an Excel spreadsheet, as office suites such as QuickOffice and Documents 2 Go aptly provide for these needs.
Of course, the iPhone’s latest incarnation prides itself on speed, and the 3GS does not disappoint; it loads quickly for a device that holds up to 32GB of media. A major feature that complements the iPhone’s efficient RAM usage (and consequently the speed) is the fact that it does not multi-task (except when playing music). Applications have to be exited before another can be started; this avoids a amount of crashing, unlike other high-end smartphones like the R.I.M. Blackberry or the HTC Touch.
The media player is on par with the quality that Apple is known for, and as such it is pretty impressive; for music, bass is rich, the trebles are high without being too ear-piercing and the middles are satisfactorily accentuated. However, the killer punch has got to be the video playback; no device on the market – except the much-vaunted Samsung HD Icon, perhaps – can match the iPhone for video playback, as the quality is truly amazing. Viewing angles are plentiful as well, so even if the device is turned forwards/backwards, the video will look as beautiful.
Granted, the high price may warrant discretion before forking out; however, if you are searching for a do-it-all device that actually manages to accomplish all the tasks it sets out to, look no further than the magnum opus of Apple Inc. The phone aspects itself seems more of an add-on than an actual feature, but it does not disappoint either. Add to this the 3 megapixel camera with video recording, and you have the quintessential mobile powerhouse; for a device that will last the test of constant technological improvements, get the iPhone. 4 million+ buyers can’t be wrong.

Living Without Limits
Oct/090
The starting point of great success and achievement has always been the same. It is for you to dream big dreams. There is nothing more important, and nothing that works faster than for you to cast off your own limitations than for you to begin dreaming and fantasizing about the wonderful things that you can become, have, and do.
As a wise man once said, “You must dream big dreams, for only big dreams have the power to move the minds of men.” When you begin to dream big dreams, your levels of self-esteem and self-confidence will go up immediately. You will feel more powerful about yourself and your ability to deal with what happens to you. The reason so many people accomplish so little is because they never allow themselves to lean back and imagine the kind of life that is possible for them.
Theory of Constraints
A powerful principle that you can use to dream big dreams and live without limits is contained in what Elihu Goldratt calls the “Theory of Constraints.” This is one of the greatest breakthroughs in modern thinking. What Goldratt has found is that in every process, in accomplishing any goal, there is a bottleneck or choke cord that serves as a constraint on the process. This constraint then sets the speed at which you achieve any particular goal.
What Goldratt found is that if you concentrate all of your creative energies and attention on alleviating the constraint, you can speed up the process faster than by doing any other single thing.
Let me give you an example. Let us say that you want to double your income. What is the critical constraint or the limiting factor that holds you back? Well, you know that your income is a direct reward for the quality and quantity of the services you render to your world. Whatever field you are in, if you want to double your income, you simply have to double the quality and quantity of what you do for that income. Or you have to change activities and occupations so that what you are doing is worth twice as much. But you must always ask yourself, “What is the critical constraint that holds me back or sets the speed on how fast I double my income?”
The 80/20 Rule in Action
A friend of mine is one of the highest-paid commission professionals in the United States. One of his goals was to double his income over the next three to five years. He applied the 80/20 rule to his client base. He found that 20 percent of his clients contributed 80 percent of his profits, and that the amount of time spent on a high-profit client was pretty much the same amount of time spent on a low-profit client. In other words, he was dividing his time equally over the number of tasks that he does while only 20 percent of those items contributes 80 percent of his results.
So he drew a line on his list of clients under those who represented the top 20 percent and then called in other professionals in his industry and very carefully, politely, and strategically handed off the 80 percent of his clients that only represented 20 percent of his business. He then put together a profile of his top clients and began looking in the marketplace exclusively for the type of client who fit the profile; in other words, one who could become a major profit contributor to his organization, and whom he in turn could serve with the level of excellence that his clients were accustomed to. And instead of doubling his income in three to five years, he doubled it in the first year!
What Are Your Constraints?
So what is holding you back? Is it your level of education or skill? Is it your current occupation or job? Is it your current environment or level of health? Is it the situations that you are in today? What is setting the speed for you achieving your goal?
Remember, whatever you have learned, you can unlearn. Whatever situation you have gotten yourself into, you can probably get yourself out of. If your real goal is to dream big dreams and to live without limits, you can set this as your standard and compare everything that you do against it.
Three Keys
The three keys to living without limits have always been the same. They are clarity, competence, and concentration.
#1: Clarity
Clarity means that you are absolutely clear about who you are, what you want, and where you’re going. You write down your goals and you make plans to accomplish them. You set very careful priorities and you do something every day to move you toward your goals. And the more progress you make toward accomplishing things that are important to you, the greater self-confidence and self-belief you have, and the more convinced you become that there are no limits on what you can achieve.
# 2: Competence
Competence means that you begin to become very, very good in the key result areas of your chosen field. You apply the 80/20 rule to everything you do and you focus on becoming outstanding in the 20 percent of tasks that contribute to 80 percent of your results. You dedicate yourself to continuous learning. You never stop growing. You realize that excellence is a moving target. And you commit yourself to doing something every day that enables you to become better and better at doing the most important things in your field.
# 3: Concentration
Concentration is having the self-discipline to force yourself to concentrate single-mindedly on one thing, the most important thing, and stay with it until it’s complete.
The two key words for success have always been focus and concentration.
Focus is knowing exactly what you want to be, have, and do. Concentration is persevering, without diversion or distraction, in a straight line toward accomplishing the things that can make a real difference in your life.
When you allow yourself to begin to dream big dreams, creatively abandon the activities that are taking up too much of your time, and focus your inward energies on alleviating your main constraints, you start to feel an incredible sense of power and confidence. As you focus on doing what you love to do and becoming excellent in those few areas that can make a real difference in your life, you begin to think in terms of possibilities rather than impossibilities, and you move ever closer toward the realization of your full potential.
